Kate Perry sepertinya mulai mencengkram para pesaingnya di dunia musik. Hal ini terbukti dengan memborong 9 nominasi sekaligus dalam MTV Video Music Awards Agustus mendatang. Para saingannya di nominasi seperti Adele, Lady Gaga, dan Beyonce sepertinya harus bersiap-siap pulang dengan tangan kosong karena Kate Perry berpeluang besar untuk membawa pulang awards untuk sebagian besar nominasinya itu.

Nominasi yang diraih Kate Perry pun bukan hanya nominasi dari kategori-kategori kecil melainkan dalam kategori-kategori bergengsi diantaranya Best Pop Video, Best Collaboration, Best Direction, dan Video Of The Year untuk lagunya Firework.
