Although Bieber spoke of a mixtape he and Twist were recording in the fall, Twist broke the news to MTV about their collaboration on track "Wherever You Are," which does not have a release date as of yet: "It features my little brother Justin Bieber and I believe that that record is going to really do it."

Bieber will also be featured in the single's music video. Twist explained: "We're gonna get some treatments [written]. We're not just gonna pick any treatment because that video could just be out of here. We got a few different ones; I don't mean to name any [directors], but a few different ones. It's going to turn out great."

"Wherever You Are" is an early glimpse of the mixtape mentioned by the singer and rapper last year. In a November interview with MTV, the Twist detailed what fans should expect: "We recently did 'Billionaire' by Travis McCoy and Bruno Mars. We did that over with our own words, like a remix. That's how we're gonna do the majority of the mixtape, with other people's records and just me freestyling over it. And Justin's a rapper now, so he's gonna be goin' in."

A spontaneous decision between the two, the untitled mixtape came about after Bieber and Twist were introduced by a mutual friend and began working together in the studio.

In addition to singing with Twist, Bieber may bring back his rapper personality, Shawty Mane. In the same interview with MTV, Bieber gave insight about his alternate personality and need to separate Shawty from his typical pop star performer: "I don't know, me and my friends were just messing around and they were like, 'Shawty Mane,' and I was like, 'Yeah, that'll be my nickname.' Shawty Mane is just like a funny character. You know, Justin Bieber is not a rapper, and it would just be lame if I came out rapping. It's lame anyway because I'm like a pop singer, but I thought it was funny, I just did it as a joke. It wasn't like anything serious."
